Psalm 135:15-18 (John Forbes -1854)
In the first line, we have the idolatrous heathen.
15 The idols of the nations are but silver and gold,
In the second line, we are told of the fabrication of the idols.
The work of man’s hands.
In the third line, mouths without articulation.
16 They have mouths, but they do not speak;
In the fourth line, eyes without vision.
They have eyes, but they do not see;
In the fifth line, ears without the sense of hearing.
17 They have ears, but they do not hear,
In the sixth line, mouths without breath.
Nor is there any breath at all in their mouths.
In the seventh line, we are told of the fabricators.
18 Those who make them will be like them,
In the eighth line, the idolatrous heathens who put their trust in idols.
Yes, everyone who trusts in them.
